June 22, 2015– More than 70 world-renowned experts in the field of antimicrobial resistance gathered in Annecy (France) to attend the World HAI/Resistance Forum once. 5th, sponsored by bioMérieux.
This year's theme is “Antibiotic Resistance: One World, One War!”
The forum provides an opportunity for experts to share their experiences and expertise in the areas of antibiotic resistance in humans, animals, the environment and food. Discussions in the forum confirmed the need for education and awareness raising to combat antibiotic resistance. The experts also suggested a range of specific improvement actions, and one prioritized action that BioMérieux is committed to supporting is the area of training.
On June 24, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and development partners in Vietnam (WHO, FAO, UNICEF, CDC, OUCRU…) has agreed to sign a written agreement between the parties on the prevention of drug resistance to further promote the fight against drug resistance in Vietnam.
The birth of antibiotics is a turning point in medicine in the treatment of bacterial infections. Antibiotics are used not only in treatment but also in cultivation, animal husbandry and aquaculture for growth purposes. However, the problem of antibiotic resistance has been present since the advent of antibiotics and is becoming more and more serious as many microorganisms adapt and become resistant to many drugs.
Drug resistance today is a global problem, especially prominent in developing countries, the world every year hundreds of thousands of people die from drug resistance and it costs hundreds of billions of dollars for drug resistance.
Vietnam has responded to the call and developed a National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance for the period from 2013 to 2020 with the goal of promoting drug resistance prevention and control activities, improving quality and effectiveness. of disease prevention and control, medical examination and treatment, contributing to the cause of care, protection and improvement of people's health.
To implement the Plan, the Ministry of Health has established a National Steering Committee on drug resistance prevention and control and established 9 drug resistance monitoring subcommittees. The Ministry has issued many legal documents on clinical pharmacy activities; prescribing and using drugs in treatment; drug information; test standardization; nosocomial infection control; develop diagnostic and treatment guidelines, antibiotic usage guidelines; regularly organize seminars, trainings and continuous training for medical staff to improve their qualifications and skills in good drug prescribing practice, clinical pharmacy practice, and promote the activities of the Drug Council and treatment.
